Returning to the Work
People around me sometimes asked why I was using AI so much. It was more that kind of question than a challenge. I was spending a great deal of time learning with it, and that intensity was noticeable.
Around late August, I took a complete break from AI and from the work surrounding it. I was trying to reorder my life.
I think it was in February that I started the assessment work again. That was also when I was introduced to Perplexity. We worked through assessments together in a separate project space—not this book, not the whole system at once, but the practical work in front of me.
Slowly, I began finding the same gaps I had tried to address before. The same difficulties returned. The inboxes filled again. I asked about them again.
That is a fast-forward through part of the history, not the full telling of everything between those points. The break and what surrounded it are a separate account, if I decide to write it.
What belongs here is that I returned through the work. The questions did not have to be invented again. They were still there, showing up in the assessments and in the effort of keeping the work together.
Now it is October 2026. I think I have learned a lot.
The task still matters. What has changed is how much more I know about the steps between asking for help and being able to use it.
